Carrol Johnson

Funeral services for Carrol Johnson were held Tues., Jan. 3, 1995
at the First Congregational UCC Church in Uehling. He died Dec.
31, 1994 at the Oakland Memorial Hospital following a lingering
illness at the age of 76. The Rev. Dawn Carder officiated at the
service. Terri Hoeneman was organist and Leigh Mueller and Leta
Olson were vocalists. Casket bearers were Roger Johnson, Richard
Johnson, Jeff Jones, Jason Jones, Tim Keller and Cory Wedergren.
Burial was in the Baptist Cemetery, rural Uehling. Military
graveside rites were in charge of L. Noble Lund American Legion
Post #196 of Uehling. Palmquist-Pelan Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. Carrol Edward Johnson was born Feb. 19, 1918, on a
homestead 4 miles northeast of Oakland, to August and Carrie Marie
(Larson) Johnson. Carrol attended country school, Dist. #52 in Burt
County. He graduated from Blair High School in 1936. On December
3, 1949, Carrol and Patricia Wedergren were united in marriage at
the First Congregational Church in Uehling. They lived most of
their lives in and around the Oakland, Craig and Uehling areas.
Carrol farmed and was employed at Valmont. Following his
retirement, he and Patty owned and operated the grocery store in
Craig. Carrol served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was
a member of the Robert Klase VFW Post #7998 of Lyons and the L.
Noble Lund American Legion Post #196 of Uehling. Carrol was also a
member of the First Congregational UCC Church in Uehling. Survivors
include his wife; Patty of Oakland; daughter & son-in-law; Christy
& Dennis Jones of Oakland and Roxanne Johnson of Lincoln; sons &
daughter-in-law; Bub & Joan Johnson and Lane Johnson, both of
Lincoln; six grandchildren; Jeffrey, Annie & Jason Jones, Deidi,
Curtiss & Ben Johnson; sister; Vivian Johnson of Fremont; brother
Cameron S. (Jack) Johnson of Uehling. He was preceded in death by
his parents; infant daughter; Nacy Jo; 3 brothers, Curt, Clyde &
Cliff Johnson and one sister, Virginia McCormick.
