In her early years, Joyce was one of the original members of the Minneapolis Choralaires where she met her future husband John Harrison Peters. The Minneapolis Choralaires were the first American Choir to be invited to compete in the World Music Festival in Wales. Joyce; a native Minnesotan was born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1931. She married John in 1952 and moved to Texas with her family in 1977. She worked for many years at the El Paso Times advertising department as an administrative assistant until her retirement in 1994. The daughter of a Master Mason and Zuhrah Noble; Joyce was a member of the Minnehaha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and later with the Woodbine Chapter in El Paso, Texas. After her husband passed away, she moved to Las Cruces into a senior assisted living apartment complex. Joyce Susanne passed away in Las Cruces, Doña Ana, New Mexico on July 30, 2014.
