Conrad Dietrich was from Hessen, Darmstadt, Germany. He had one known sister, Katherine Dietrich Hoffman, who married Albert Hoffman.

He married Mary Yager (or Maria Yaeger), DOB: 2/22/1829, Anspach Provic Nassau, Germany - DOD: 3/6/1885, Egg Harbor City/Galloway Township, Atlantic County, NJ.

He and Mary had eight known children: Lizzie, Christian, Philip, Conrad, Louisa, Caroline, Minnie (Wilhelmina) and Anna Elizabeth.

Conrad and Mary left Germany (unknown date) and lived in England (unknown amount of time). Their two son's were born in England:

Christian Dietrich, according to a certified copy of his birth certificate, was born at 27 Mill Street, Sunderland East, County of Durham, England on 4/3/1849. His birth was registered on 5/19/1849;

Philip Dietrich, was born at 21 Georges Court, Georges Street, Bradford and North Bierley, Yorkshire, England on 1/13/1851 and was registered on 1/25/1851. Philip married Katherine "Katie" Hauser;

Lizzy was 15 and entered Boston from Halifax, Nova Scotia with Conrad, Christian, and Philip, but it is not known where she was born. I have found a notation in my great-aunt's birthday book that shows "Lizzie" Dietrich was born on February 16 with no year or country mentioned. Given the month and year that they arrived in Boston, Lizzy was 15 and the notation in the birthday book, she was most likely born on 2/16/1844.

The Brig Bosten passanger list states that all were born in Germany which I know not to be true since I have Philip's and Christian's birth certificates;

and according to census records, thereafter,

Daughter, Welhelmina, (also as Minnie) was born on 8/22/1861, in New York City - DOD: 1945, Atlantic County, and married Jacob W. Specht;

Caroline Catherine, DOB: 4/8/1859, Boston, Mass. - DOD: 1/9/1940, and married John Christian Joseph;

and, according M. Emilie Gries' notes were:

Conrad and Mary's daughter Anna Elizabeth died as infant in 1866 (buried in Egg Harbor City Cemetery, NJ).

Both son's British birth certificates state that Conrad was a musician or itinerant musician. The passanger list also states Conrad was a musician.

When the family left England (at an unknown date) they headed for Nova Scotia. Conrad, 33 years old, Lissy, age 15, Christian, age 10 and Philip, age 8, arrived in Boston via Nova Scotia on the Brig. Boston. They arrived on 11/7/1859. There is no mention of Conrad's wife Mary arriving on that date.

The 1880 US Census, dated June 14, 1880, Egg Harbor City, NJ notes that Conrad, age 54; Mary, age 51; Caroline, age 22 and Welhelmina age 18 were living in Egg Harbor, New Jersey. Conrad was listed as a laborer. Mary was listed as coming from Nassan, (supposedly from Anspach, Provic Nassau, Germany on 2/22/1824). Caroline listed from (Daass ?) on 4/8/1858. Wilhelmina was born in New York City, 8/22/1861. Both daughters are listed as sewing girls.

Conrad bought a farm in Cologne, Galloway Township, Atlantic County, NJ, located at the southeast corner of Cologne Avenue.

According to the notes left by my grandmother, Christian Dietrich, wife unknown had the following children: Caroline, married Lee Moore; Conrad; Henry; Charles; Mary; William and Christian.

Her notes indicate that Philip and Katherine had five children: Wilhelmina "Minnie", Katherine "Kate", Philip Jr., Elizabeth, and Mary Dietrich Senn.

Conrad and Mary's daughter, Wilhelmina and Jacob Specht had one daughter, Carrie.

Their daughter Caroline and John C. Joseph had three children: George, Adolph and Wilhemina "M. Emilie" Joseph Gries.

In addition, according to the my grandmother's notes, Conrad's wife, Mary Yaeger Dietrich had a sister, Sophie Yaeger Wofheimer and a brother, Philip Yaeger.

Furthermore, Conrad's sister, Katherine Dietrich, married Albert Hoffman and they had six children: Marg Hoffman McDonald, Annie Hoffman Pugle, Carrie Hoffman Owens, Elizabeth Hoffman McDonald, Christina Hoffman Schoen and Peter Hoffman.
