STREATOR- Richard J. Lieske 85 of Streator died Thursday afternoon (Sept. 4, 2014) at his daughter’s home in Streator, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Father Jacob Rose, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 AM Monday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial with full military rites conducted by members of American Legion Post # 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1492 will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.

Mr. Lieske was born Mar. 22, 1929 in Ottawa the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Bavolar) Lieske.

Dick had been employed at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. for forty six years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the former St. Anthony’s Church and also a member of American Legion Post # 217, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1492 and the Knights of Columbus, all of Streator. He attended Ottawa schools and was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korea. He was an avid Cub’s fan.

The day of his death, the family was comforted by a rainbow over the house.

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Tracy) McClellan and Lori (Larry) Marek, both of Streator, four grandchildren, Troy, Carrie, Kristin and Alycia, two great grandchildren, Bryanna and Ayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ruth and Eleanor and three brothers, Henry “Hank”, Clarence and Earl Sr.

Pallbearers will be Earl Lieske Jr. Joe Adamchak, Alex Stein, Jason McCormick, Bob Luscombe and Paul Losey.

Memorials may be made to American Legion Post # 217, Streator.
