Edward was the son of Daniel and Mary Dutter of Pennsylvania. Edward had at least five siblings. By 1900 the family had moved to Albion Township, Trempealeau County, WI

According to census records, his wife had 12 children. Tragically, six children had died by 1900. A newspaper article in June 1917 EC paper about his family living in the Town of Seymour, EC county, says four of those children died of diphtheria at the same time. His first wife Francis Ball Dutter died young, perhaps of same disease that killed 4 children. His brother William Dutter also lived in town of Seymour in 1910 and 1920.

Edward was married to Francis Ball (Lucinda in one census?) and later to a much younger Elizabeth Ingalls.

Francis Ball Dutter was born in Wi, 7 years old in 1870 census in Naples, Buff Co., mother Eunice A (Warmer) Ball, born in NY, sister Adella Ball (William) Cleasby age 9 and Nina Ball (William) Dutter age 1.

Father Franklin Ball, civil war vet? Not in 1870 census? Div?

Note: Willam Cleasby Sr (father of at least 13 children) married Adella Ball Cleasby as his second wife

He had children with both wives, at least the following children:

FRANCIS BALL CHILDREN:
1. Emma J. Mae Dutter Jones, married Wallace Jones of Hamlin
area. They are buried in Bl River Falls

2. Sylvester/Sylvaria b 1 April 1883, married Pauline Fell, they had at least nine children including almost youngest Woodrow Wilson Dutter b. 1916. Sylvester died Feb 14, 1920 in EC.

9. Withrow Edward Dutter b. 1918, died in NC
In 1930 he lived in Tomah with much older half brother Minor Dutter and his wife Emma and daughter Lila Dutter Lenz. He enlisted in Army in Sept 1940.

Note: Withrow's first name was actually Edward, Edward Withrow Dutter. Perhaps he did use that because of confusion with his nephew born two years earlier, Edward Dutter born 1916. He (Withrow) is buried in Fayetteville, NC.
