The daughter of Isaac and Gertrude Kissell.

She married Peter Marque, a tailor born in 1827 in Hersham, Germany and the son of Peter and Margaret Marque, at Charlestown, MA on June 18, 1857. They were the parents of Charles, born April 21, 1858; Joseph, born Nov. 9, 1859; and Louisa Paulina., born Oct. 20, 1861.

Her husband Peter served with two regiments during the Civil War, enlisting for the first time in May 1861 as a Private in Co. H, 4th Mass. Infantry. This regiment was mustered out of service at the expiration of its three month enlistment.

Her husband enlisted for a second time at Quincy, MA, and was mustered into the 18th Mass. Infantry on August 24, 1861 as a Private in Co. K. Peter was killed in action at Second Bull Run on August 30, 1862.

Eliza applied for a Widow's pension on June 30, 1864 and was issued monthly benefits of $8.00 with an additional $2 per month for each minor child until she remarried to Charles A. Heim on April 18, 1867 in Charlestown, MA. Charles, who was born in Germany in 1834, was the son of Phillip and Elizabeth (Oster) Heim.

Eliza's pension benefits as the widow of Peter Marque were restored following the August 3, 1904 death of her second husband and continued until her own death in 1911.
