Hugh Cornelius Brand, 89, passed away January 23, 2006 from complications resulting from a fall. Hugh was born July 20, 1916 in Dordrecht, Holland and immigrated to America with his family in 1923. He married his sweetheart, Beth Eugenia Cannon, April 10, 1941 in a ceremony performed by President David O. McKay. They were blessed with two children, Steven and Barbara. Hugh served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was successful in the automobile industry, working as a sales manager and receiving many awards. He was a member of the LDS Church and served as a bishop, high councilman and high priests group leader. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed basketball, tennis, bowling, soccer, baseball and golf. He was an avid gardener and cultivated beautiful tulips and roses. He adored his family and had great pride in their accomplishments. Hugh is survived by his wife, Beth; son, Steven (Veronica) Brand; son-in-law, Kim Sanderson; sisters, Gladys Brand and Joyce Barker; and numerous grandchildren and great-grand children. Preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Barbie. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 27, 2006 at 12 pm in the Holladay 26th Ward chapel, 4601 South 2565 East. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 pm and Friday morning from 10:30-11:30 am at the church. Interment in the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy.
