Mr. Ocie Hawkins, 84, of Valley died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.

Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with Dr. Kenneth Overby officiating. Burial will follow at Langdale Cemetery.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Born May 22, 1924 in Langdale, Mr. Hawkins was the son of the late Fannie and Barlow H. Hawkins. He was a former employee of WestPoint Pepperell with 17 years of service. Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Leona, Ruby, Jessie, Laura, George and David. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of the Valley Lions Club for 33 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorials be made in his memory to Calvary Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
