Departed this life at Spartanburg, S.C. in the 86th year of her age, Mrs. Jane Ancrum, only daughter of William Washington. In journeying through this vale of tears, it was her misfortune to encounter a succession of thorns and briars in her pathway, and the cruel ravages of war left her like some care-worn traveler tossed upon the troubled waters of life, drinking to the dregs the bitter cup of adversity; but with a peaceful calm, putting on the whole armor of God, she has fought the good fight of faith and has in the evening of her life been called to retreat from all her earthly sorrows, closing the period of her existence by falling asleep in Jesus, with the blessed hope of opening her eyes on the rest that remains for the people of God.
Dear mother, you left an aching void the world can never fill.

(That is one long sad run-on sentence per the obituary.)
In 50, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law William and Julia Davidson in Charleston.
She lived in Charleston still during the war, per her donations so she either died in a widow's home or the home of her child.
