Raymond J. Kath, age 89, of 2350 S. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died on Monday, Aug., 23, 2010, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center.
Ray was born on Feb. 19, 1921, in Two Rivers, son of the late William and Elda Kath. He attended schools in Sturgeon Bay. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Helen Karbon in Rockwood on Nov. 7. 1988. Ray worked for 40 years at Mirro Aluminum Company. He also tended Bar at the Eagles Club for 15 years. He was a member of Hope Community Church and the Eagles Club since 1937.
Survivors include his wife: Helen Kath, Manitowoc; five stepchildren: Sue Reilly, Kentucky, Kathy (Bill) Groothoff, Arkansas, Dan Karbon, Manitowoc, Joe Karbon, Manitowoc, Rose Polzin, Manitowoc; step grandchildren: Scotty, Jamie, Jimmy, Celena, Danny, Mike, Jamie, Shawn, Amber, Travis, Tatum, Tessa, Michelle, Kristen; numerous step great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Elda; one brother: Harold; one sister: Gertrude; one step granddaughter: Vetania.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Rick Hines will officiate. Entombment of his cremated remains will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relative and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday.
