He was a retired farmer and retired from Perry Manufacturing. He owned and operated Danley's Lawn Mower Repair and was a member of New Home Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Simmons Danley of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Larry Bitancor of Dobson; a grandson and spouse, Dusty and Michelle Moorefield of Dobson; a great-grandson, Cody Linville of Dobson; three stepdaughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara and Jimmy Danley of Lanexa, Va, Shirley and Robbie Moorefield of Westfield and Linda Bateman of Mount Airy; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Tim and Melissa Peele of Pilot Mountain; a special stepgranddaughter, Sherry Spainhour of King; four other stepgrandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mamie Dollyhigh of Mount Airy; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Danley was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Atkins, and three brothers, Ellis Danley, Elbert Danley and Monroe Danley.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2001, at New Home Church of Christ. The service will be conducted by the Brother Darrell Price and Brother Walt Wilson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
