NUTTER FORT — Paul O. Glaspell Sr. of Clarksburg, WV, departed his earthly home, August 5, 2010, at 6:35 p.m. to live in his eternal home after a valiant battle with cancer.

He was born on August 22, 1929, in Clarksburg, WV, the son of Jesse Richard Glaspell, and Minnie Ann (Wagner) Glaspell

Paul is survived by his wife, of 61 happy years, Faye Frances Frye Glaspell, whom he married on July 23, 1949.

He was the loving father of two sons, Reverend Paul O. Glaspell Jr. and his wife Mary of Salem, WV, and James K. Glaspell and his wife Teresa of Reynoldsville, WV; one daughter, Candy Parker and her husband Robert of Clarksburg, WV; and one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth (Glaspell) Oldaker and her husband Douglas of Clarksburg, WV.

He had one brother, Roy Glaspell of Olivehurst, CA, and one sister, Alma (Glaspell) Cottrill and husband Jeff of Clarksburg, WV.

His life’s joys were spending time with his twelve grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren, working in his garden, playing music and hearing his grandchildren sing.

He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Glaspell, and four brothers, Homer, Donald, Jim and Harry Glaspell.

Paul was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and faithful friend to all who met him. He was an active member and musician at his church, The House of the Lord Jesus Christ in Clarksburg, and was Apostolic in faith.

Anyone who knew him could not forget his warm smile and his ability to always have a kind word to brighten anyone’s day. He loved music and loved teaching anyone who wanted to learn how to play. We, as a family, pride ourselves in all that he has taught us. His wisdom and kind words will always be remembered. He was the portrait of hard work, love, kindness, patience and friendship, and was a true “one of a kind” family man.

It will take a lifetime to replace the hole that is left in our hearts, and you will be deeply missed until we see you again in heaven.

A special thanks to Anna Nutter, Kada Wiseman, Candy Parker, Tomra Parker, Elizabeth Oldaker and the Hospice nurses for taking such great care of our Pap.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV, on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 9, 2010, at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Terry Upton presiding. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

A service of Amos Carvelli Funeral Home.
