Martha Ann Leonard was the daughter of Martin Leonard and Sallie Widener Leonard. Martha was the first of the Leonard family to locate in Chattanooga, TN. She married Frank C. Deal (b. Virginia 2 June 1859) in Hamilton Co. on 5 October 1881 (Hamilton Co. Marriages). They had one adopted child, Esther M. (Deal) Patterson. Frank C. Deal died on November 29, 1905 of alcoholism. He is buried at Forest Hills Cemetery.
Martha married William Posey Lovell in Hamilton Co. TN, on 26 April 1911.
Martha died of cancer in her womb on 28 November 1917. William P. Deal worked as a shipping clerk when he died at age 47 of tuberculosis on 30 August 1919. (death certificate).
