Beth attended the University of Nebraska, where she earned her bachelor's degree in music education in 1947. Announcements in the Lincoln paper indicate that she frequently performed at private functions and public performances. She received her master's degree in guidance and counseling from Corpus Christi State University in 1977. While living in Corpus Christi, Beth was active in the symphony as a performer, administration assistant, and the marketing and management of youth concerts.
Beth is survived by her children and grandchildren, Thomas, Jr., of Tokyo, Japan; John and Eileen Pierson and their sons Clayton and Tyler of Savannah, Georgia; and Linda Pierson Veliz and her daughter Emily of San Diego, California; two sisters-in-law, Soffia Polhemus of Kearney, Nebraska, and Evelyn Polhemus of Holdrege, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Pierson, Sr.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, James and Sylvia Polhemus, Eugene "Gene" and Helen Polhemus, and Lynn Polhemus.
A memorial service was held on Friday, October 17, 2014, at Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln, Nebraska. She and her husband Tom were laid to rest together.
Beth was an intelligent, talented, and interesting woman who lived a rich, full life. May she rest in eternal peace.
