Ray Howard Stevens, 93, of Cape Coral, Florida, died Thursday, February 9, 2006, at Hospice House of Cape Coral. Born December 17, 1912, in Hanley Falls, Minnesota, he was the son of Sam S. and Levina Gullickson Stevens. Mr. Stevens served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He owned and operated Stevens Apartments and was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Mansfield. A life member of the Marquis Lodge #690 F & AM and the American Legion Post #16, he was also a member of the Abra Shrine Temple in Ft. Myers, Florida, the Retman Club in Mansfield, and the Richland County Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Stevens of Cape Coral, Florida; one son, Robert J. Stevens of Yorktown, Virginia; two grandchildren, Lisa M. Stevens Monds of Herndon, Virginia, and Michael E. Stevens of Greenwood, South Carolina; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Levern and Mary Stevens of Mansfield, and Charles and Myrtle Stevens of Appleton, Minnesota; one sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Jim Bailey of Arcadia, California, and four sisters-in-law, Opal Stevens of California, Isabel Stevens of Florida, and Edna Stevens and Carol Stevens of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Anna; and four brothers, Archie, Leslie, Larry, and Marvin.
Graveside military memorial services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Mansfield Memorial Park at 2:15 p.m., conducted by Rev. Cloyd Kress. Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. from 1-2 p.m. with Masonic services at 1:45 p.m.
