Nancy Bonebrake the daughter of Henry and his (first) wife Ann (Stewart) married Rev. Joseph Hess


Children: John W. Hess, married Emma Keys Rouzer; Simon Peter Hess, married Jennie M. Lesher, second Mary Adams; Fannie Hess, married John F. Lindeman; Emma Hess, unmarried; Annie Cathrine Hess, married Kemp Middlekauff Bell; Albert H. Hess, married Magdalene Shank "Lena" Sollenberger); Susie Hess, unmarried; and Joseph Miller Hess Jr., died young.


OBITUARY:

MRS. NANCY BONEBRAKE HESS died at her home, 229 East Main Street, Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock, aged 81 years, 8 months and 6 days.

Mrs. Hess had been an invalid for the past several years, but her death was hastened by a stroke sustained recently.

Mrs. Hess was the widow of the Rev. Joseph Hess, who died forty-two years ago. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bonebrake and was born and raised on the old Bonebrake homestead at Roadside.

Mrs. Hess has lived in Waynesboro for the past twenty years and was one of the best-known women of the community.

She was a member of the Church of the Brethren for 60 years.

Surviving are these children: Albert H. Hess, Duffield; John W. Hess, Rouzerville; Samuel P. Hess, east of town; Mrs. John Linderman, east of town; Mrs. Annabelle Brown, Brown's Mill; Miss Emma Hess, at home.

One sister, Miss Julia Bonebrake, and nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral Tuesday morning, leaving the house at 10 o'clock. Services at the Ringgold Church of the Brethren, conducted by Rev. Herman Shank and Rev. Jerome Funk.

Interment in the adjoining graveyard. The grandchildren will act as pallbearers.
