Donald Calvin Morgan was born April 9, 1926 to Alfred L. Morgan and Tiny Gibson in Crown, Logan County, WV. He served in the US Army in WWII and the Korean War as a cook. He married Cora Jane Harshman, daughter of Virgil Harshman and Lydia Offutt Harshman, on October 31, 1952 in New Jersey. Both were serving in the Army at the time and had met while out with friends and he overheard a group of people greeting a woman walking in the establishment by shouting, “Hey! it's “West By God” Virginia!” and it was her. They married within two weeks of meeting and were married for 40 years before Cora died on June 8, 1993. They had settled in Morgantown WV and had a total of 5 children in their marriage; Debra, Kathy, Larry, Ruth Ann, and Mary Lynn.

They were preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lynn.

He worked at David Lynch Glass Factory for many years and retired from there in 1986. He worked for Lovings Furniture prior to that as a deliveryman. He was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting ginseng, fishing, and berry picking. He liked to watch Gunsmoke and the Beverly Hillbillies. He had a good sense of humor. One of his favorite movies was Oh Brother Where Art Thou and a song from that movie was played at his funeral, “Down to the River and Pray.” He died on September 4, 2006.
