Services: Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Albuquerque.

Deputy James "Jimmy" McGrane Jr., 38, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in Terajas.

Family members said he proudly served the citizens of Bernalillo County for more three years with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lorraine McGrane.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Majewski McGrane, formerly of Clovis; parents, Jim Sr. and Rita McGrane; a sister, Ida Tinguely (and husband, John); a brother-in-law, Dale Reames (Tina); niece and goddaughter, Alexandria Tinguely; nephew and godson, Dylan Reames; and numerous extended family members.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE, Albuquerque.

Interment is at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Albuquerque.

Friends may visit French Mortuary Chapel on University Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday.

The family has suggested memorials to the Boys & Girls Club of Albuquerque, P.O. Box 3963, 87190-3963.

Arrangements are by French Mortuary, Albuquerque.Deputy James McGrane was shot and killed while making a traffic stop on Highway 337.
Deputy McGrane was shot twice while making contact with the driver of the vehicle. Within minutes of Deputy McGrane calling in the stop, witnesses in the area reported hearing two gunshots and seeing a white pickup flee the scene.
The suspect had previously served at least six years in jail on unrelated charges and is also wanted in connection with a murder that took place in November 2005. He remains at large.
Deputy McGrane had served with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department for 2 1/2 years. He had previously served with the New Mexico State Police and United States Postal Inspection Service for a total of 10 1/2 years. He is survived by his wife and parents.
