Mr. Steele had complained of pains In his arm and chest earlier In the day. He was attended by Dr. H. E. Chapin in the late afternoon and died soon after the physician had left. Mrs. Steele was on the first floor when she heard her husband call. She hurried upstairs to hie room, but lie died before she could reach him Mr. Steele and Fred Dunaway, turnkey at the county jail, returned from Pennsylvania Monday night with Charles Johnson, a woods contractor who was wanted In the county on a charge of having failed to pay his employees, and according to Mr. Dunaway, Mr. Steele had complained Monday of considerable pain in his chest Mr. Steele remained at home Tuesday to rest after the trip.
Mr. Steele was born at Three Mile Bay June 5, 1887 son of Emory and Alma Farr Steele. His parents moved to Lowville when he was a small boy and he was educated at the Lowville academy. On July; 7, 1913, he married Miss Marlon Shumway of West Martinsburg.
Surviving Mr. Steele besides his wife are five children, Shumway, who resides here; Richard of indianapolis,Ind.; Stephen and Betty Lee, students at the University of Minnesota, and Gregory, a student at Maryville college in Maryville, Tenn., and one sister, Mrs. B. Brayton Johnson, of Easton street, Lowville.
The body was. removed to the Virkler funeral home where friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday afternoon at 2. Rev. O. T. Anderson, pastor of the Presbyterian church will officiate.
