Obituary.

Matilda Anderson, nee Miller, was born in Tennessee, December 22, 1820. During the days of her girlhood she, with her father's family, emigrated to the state of Illinois. February 9th, 1837, in Fayette county, Illinois she was married to Alexander Anderson. To them were born twelve children, seven of whom are still living. In March 1877 the family emigrated from Illinois to Kansas locating in Cowley county. Her husband died August 10, 1891, they having lived together for more that fifty-four years. Early in life she was converted and became a member of the Disciples church. After her husband's death she decided to make her home with her children, and later on, it being more convenient for her, she joined the United Brethren church. For more than 50 years she was a devoted child of God and when the Master called for her she was ready to go.

She attended the State Holiness camp meeting recently held in Wichita and on Friday Aug. 30, she was wonderfully blessed, at which time she professed entire sanctification, and on Thursday morning Sept. 5, 1901 at the home of her daughter Mrs. J.E. Wilson of Wichita, Kans., she fell asleep in Jesus aged 80 years, 8 months and 14 days.

Funeral services were held in the United Brethren church at Winfield, on Friday Sept. 6th, 10:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. F.P. Smith, assisted by Rev. J.R. Harner, after which her remains were laid to rest in the beautiful Union cemetery near the city to quietly sleep until the resurrection of the just.

Mother Anderson will be greatly missed, but with submissive hearts we all bow before Him who hath said. "I am the resurrection and the life," with the full assurance that we shall meet again in the morning.

F.P. Smith.
