John Westhoff was a descendant of a pioneer family, early residents of Crawford County, Kansas. The Westhoff family had first lived in Schuyler County, Missouri but sometime around 1867 migrated to Wapello County, Iowa. By 1870 they became residents of Crawford County where the family became quite numerous. John was married to Miss Daisy Claudine Hiestand and they became the parents of four sons; Michael, Ronald, Claude, Eric and one daughter; Mary Jo (now Mrs. Bob Little).
