Jim Peters (Pye-pa-ha) was born in 1866 to Kwi-ya-ma (Que-e-mah) and mother, Ma-wi-so (Mau-we-sou). Jim Peters was known to stand up for the rights of Indians and participated in returning Meskwaki children taken to boarding schools against their will. He was a Thunderer, a devotee of the peyote religion.

Married Ka-no-mah.

He had traveled to the Potawatomi reservation in Wisconsin to meet with a medicine person who would help him in his affliction, and he died there and was removed to Meskwaki cemetery.
