Mrs. Aida G. Laurel passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Mercy Health Center.
Mrs. Laurel and her family were one of the initial parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Her participation in organizations included membership in the Blessed Sacrament Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America - Court of Isabella #683 and a 26 year participant as an auxilian at the Mercy Regional Health Center.
Mrs. Aida G. Laurel's mission in life in fulfilling her roles as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt and a good Samaritan was characterized by a great deal of love, charity and faith. Her family was always the primary focus. To each of her family members, she was a friend, a listener, a counselor and a peacemaker to all who knew her.
Never did she have an unkind thought of anyone. She died as peacefully as she had lived.
Mrs. Laurel was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years of marriage, Mr. Fernando D. Laurel, her parents, Pedro R. and Leonor H. Garza and her sister, Miss Leonor Garza.
She is survived by her daughters and sons:
by her three sisters, Mrs. Guadalupe G. Smith, of Rio Grande City, Texas, Eva Garza and Mrs. Olga G. Garcia of Falfurrias, Texas, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Marina L. Guzman.
Mrs. Laurel is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
