Elijah Chancellor was born on October 13, 1869 in Anderson County, South Carolina, the son of Thomas Chancellor and Mary Ann (Proctor) Chancellor.
He was married 1st about 1889 in South Carolina to -- -- . His 2nd marriage was about 1897 in South Carolina to Lula Taylor (1877-1942), and her mother was Tally Taylor.
The family moved from South Carolina to Georgia about 1906 and was in Tennessee at least by 1910.
A sulfur burner for the Tennessee Chemical Company, Elijah was living in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. He was diabetic and 67 years old when he died on March 22, 1937 of leg gangrene at Nashville General Hospital. Burial was three days later in Mount Ararat Cemetery, Nashville.
