Wife of Louis Bailey

Died. The home of Mr. G. L. Rinker was entered by the messenger of death, Sunday morning at half past one, claiming for its victim Mrs. Keziah Bailey, mother of Mrs. Rinker. Mrs. Bailey was born in New York, in 1813, and moved with her parents to Indiana in 1823 w here she was afterwards married. Mother Bailey with her husband, Mr. Lewis Bailey, and Mr. Rinker's family, came to Kansas Feb. 13th 1880. In the following July Mr. Bailey, who was associated in business with Mr. Rinker, died, leaving a widow nearly seventy years of age. Since that time Mrs. Bailey has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Rinker, on 11th avenue. She had been a member of the M. E. church, for about one-half a century. During her late illness, caused by a fall, she was unconscious most of the time, but the day before her death she was conscious of her surroundings, recognizing the members of the family, and expressing great comfort in the words of the twenty-third Psalm as read by her pastor, Rev. B. Kelley. As she was passing "through the valley of the shadow of death" she realized that she was supported by the "rod and the staff" promised in the scriptures read. The lives of the just are worthy of emulation.
