ALONZO CLARK - Alonza Clark, 75, of 2401 Lee Highway, Pulaski and formerly of Dublin, died Saturday, June 11, 1994 in the Highland Manor Nursing Home, Dublin.

Born Dec. 25, 1918 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Hugh Monroe Clark and Effie Mae Burnett Clark.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Clark Strum.

He was a member of the Max Creek Baptist Church where he was a deacon, trustee and sang in the choir. He worked at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant from 1952 until his retirement in 1980. He served as an automatic rifleman in the U.S. Army in Company B, 147th Infantry in the South Pacific during World War II. He was presented the Expert Infantryman Badge, three Bronze Service Stars and a WWII Victory Medal.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Sutphin Clark of Dublin; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Louise) Albert of Parrott, Mrs. Dennis (Jenny) Maddy of Hudson, N.C. and Mrs. Lee (Rebecca) Graham of Hartsville, S.C.; one sister, Gertrude Register of Richmond; six brothers, George J. Clark of Dublin, David Lee Clark of Atlanta, Ga., Frank Clark of Bowie, Md., Hugh Burnett Clark of Delton, John Clark of Pulaski and Bentley Clark of Richmond; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two, great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Max Creek Baptist Church, Hiwassee, with the Pastor Mike Coleman and the Rev. Robert Marshall officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Full military honors will be conducted by the Pulaski V.F.W. Post 1184. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday to lie instate until the hour of service.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski.
