Mother of Five is First Car Victim
Mrs. Ambrose Meyer is No. 1 Auto Fatality in County This Year
Mrs. Ambrose Meyer, 41, 943 North 11th street, mother of five children, died late Sunday afternoon in the municipal hospital, Two Rivers, 12 hours after being struck by a Manitowoc-bound automobile on Memorial drive a mile south of the Roosevelt avenue crossing, Two Rivers.
Edward Breitwisch, 21, 1622 Division street, driver of the car, told county officials Sunday that icy pavements prevented him from avoiding Mrs. Meyer after he saw her and a companion on the road only 25 feet in front of him.
Mrs. Meyer, who sustained a fractured skull, broken leg, and internal injuries, died without regaining consciousness…As an aftermath of the accident, which the officials decided was unavoidable, a dragnet has been spread through the county in an effort to locate the driver of a 1937 model car who refused Breitwisch’s request to take the injured woman to the hospital because he “did not want to get the seats covered with blood.”
The license number of the car was not obtained…
