Shreveport LA Times, April 2, 1993:
SPEARSVILLE, LA --- Services for Mr. Carl Elkins, Sr., 88, of Spearsville, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 2, 1993, at Mt. Union Baptist Church with Rev. Forrest Post officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.
Mr. Elkins died Wednesday, March 31, 1993, at Tri-Ward Hospital in Bernice after a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Union Parish, a deacon of Mt. Union Baptist Church and a retired farmer. He was a retired member of the Board of Directors of Claiborne Electric Co-op. Mr. Elkins was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Wade Elkins.
Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Carl Elkins, Jr., and Elaine of Bossier City, Dale Elkins and Doris, Bobby Elkins and Elizabeth, Hez Elkins and Sunshine, Tom Elkins and Pat, all of Spearsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby Kay Misenheimer and James of Springhill; a brother, Argo Elkins of Farmerville; a sister, Minnie Lou Moring of Spearsvile; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be at the church until time of service.
