From the Albuquerque Journal: Frank Kubat, 82 passed away May 5, 2001 after a brief illness. He was born April 24, 1919 to Joseph Kubat and Mary Cermak Kubat of Chicago, Illinois and was the youngest of their six surviving children. He married Beatrice Linhart on May 16, 1942 and was drafted into the Army in October of 1942. He served overseas with the 156th General Hospital in Herfordshire, England. After WWII, he returned home to his wife and family in Chicago and worked for various companies in the Chicago area. In the early 1950s, determined to explore fresh opportunities, he and his wife traveled around the western United States, looking for a new place to live. Friends prevailed upon them to visit Albuquerque where they fell in love with the city, the mountains, and the weather. In 1955, he and his wife moved to Albuquerque where he worked for several companies before he ultimately joined the Border Sunshine/Servomation Company. He retired from Servomation in 1981. His family and friends will remember Frank for his sense of humor, his love of playing golf, his keen card-playing abilities, and his devotion to his family. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann and Marie; and his brothers Joe and Jerry. He is survived by his wife, his two children, and his sister Rose.

The best father. He told us what he expected and we tried not to disappoint him.
