Mrs. Margaret M. (Maggie) Jaichner, 87, formerly of 507 E. Pleasant st. died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday in Mercy Hospital following several months of failing health.
Mrs. Jaichner, a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, came to the United States while a young girl and became a naturalized citizen. She was a member of St. Joseph Church. A Springfield resident most of her life, Mrs. Jaichner was born June 2, 1874, the daughter of John and Mary McDonald Mearns.
Survivors are two sons of Springfield, William F. and Wendle M. Jaichner; six granddaughters, Mrs. Connie Murphy of California, Mrs. Kathleen Smith of Marysville, Mrs. Teresa Hogan of Marysville, Mrs. Helen Palmer, Mrs. Janet Zenrick and Katherine Murphy and three grandsons, Joseph Mullins, Raphael Mullins and Gregory Mullins, all of Springfield, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Her body was taken to the O'Brien-Kenney funeral home where friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday. Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
