She was the daughter of James Monroe Goodbar and Mary Elizabeth Morgan Goodbar of Memphis, TN. She married, first, John Overton VII of Memphis. He died, and on 24 February 1910 she married Charles Alexander Pope O'Fallon of St. Louis.
She moved there, and so lived near her daughter, Elizabeth Overton who had married Lewis D. Dozier who owned American Biscuit Company (later Nabisco). Elizabeth was divorced and married August A. Busch, soon to be president and CEO of Anheuser-Busch.
And so, Mary Goodbar was at the top of St. Louis society at the time that the city was the fourth largest in the nation.

Thank you Anna Jaech.
