Mary Burda, 104, of West Mifflin, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at Kane Regional Center, McKeesport. Born Sept. 8, 1910, in Munhall, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Fannie (Metzvetz) Miller; and wife of the late Chester Burda. She was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish, Duquesne. Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, polka dancing and caring for her family. She had a gentle and loving spirit and a prayerful faith in God. She also enjoyed dancing at the Kennywood Ballroom, where she met her husband, Chester, to whom she was married for 58 years. She was the cherished mother of Arlene Makar, of West Mifflin; beloved grandmother of Craig Alan Makar, of West Mifflin, and Shawn Daniel Makar, of West Mifflin; great-grandmother of Cody James Makar; sister of Katherine Kopco, of Munhall, and Dorothy Beech, of Port Vue, and the late Ann Mikulak, Helen Anderson, John Miller and Nellie Rosepiler; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary touched the lives of many friends. Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, funeral director. Blessing service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski officiating. Interment at St. Hedwig Cemetery.
