Mary Čermák was born in Tučapy Bohemia, the daughter of František and Rozalie Kostroun Čermák. She came to the United States in 1901 - likely to stay with her Aunt, (Terezie Čermák Lavička). On November 2, 1902, she married Joseph Kubat in Chicago. They had at least eleven children - six of whom survived to adulthood (Marie, Joseph, Jerry, Ann, Rose, and Frank.)

Announcement of death
In deep grief we announce to all friends and acquaintances, that our dearly beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and mother-in-law,

died after a long and painful sickness, on Tuesday, the 11th of November 1930, at 10 o'clock in the evening. Birth was in Nezdašově, in Bohemia and in America she dwelled 31 years. She belonged to the Unity of Czech Women (JČD; Jednota Českýsch Dam) Lodge Vlast #41. The funeral of the dearly departed will be performed on Friday, the 14th of November, from the house of mourning 1355 West 47th St. at 1:30 in the afternoon, to the Czech National cemetery, where the remains will be cremated. –For silent condolences asks
