Calvin Blankinship, 70, OF Monett, formerly of New Madrid County, died June 30, 2003, at his home. Born March 27, 1933, in New Madrid County, son of the late Conliff and Ruby Lucy Blankinship.
He served with the U.S. Air Force in Korea and Vietnam before retiring. Also a retiree of the U.S. Post Office.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Monett.
He was a member of Tom Wolfe VFW Post 4207 in Monett.
On Feb. 12, 1951, in Canalou, he married Emma Jean Blankinship, who survives of the home. Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Lou Ellen Blankinship of Monett, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ernie Trumbly of Joplin, MO; four brothers, David Blankinship of New Madrid, MO; F.A. Blankinship of Plant City, FL; Ira Blankinship of Raytown, MO; and Conlif White of Celma; four sisters, Betty Stanton of Mountain Home, AR; Mary Crouch of Dexter, MO; Bonnie Boutz of Jefferson City, MO; and Jessie Baer of Tulsa, OK; and three grandchildren.
Two sisters, Virginia Blankinship and Iris Drake, preceded him in death.
Visitation is today at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Graveside services will be Thursday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
