He is preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife Maria Delia Gomez Mejia; his parents Catalina and Macario Mejia, Sr.; and a sister Guadalupe Mejia Martinez.
Jose is a loving father and is survived by his three daughters and a son. His daughters are Rebecca Mejia (Dennis R.) Cronin, Dalila Mejia and Cecilia Mejia (Joseph R.) Peché; and his son Abram Daniel Mejia; He will be dearly missed by his 7 loving grandchildren Jacob, Gabriella, Cameron, Sean Patrick, Isabella, Dylan and Wyatt. He leaves behind 8 siblings Diamina Escaraño, Consuelo Tristan, Macario J. Mejia, Jr., Esteban Mejia, Juanita Gomez, Ramon Mejia, Esmeralda Mejia and Catarina G. Mejia.
Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in the Rudy Garza Chapel of Palms in La Feria from 9:00am-1:15pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church today, November 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Cremation will follow in accordance to his wishes.
