MANSFIELD: Beverly J. Alexander went to be with the Lord Monday, November 24, 2014 in Hospice House in Ashland surrounded by family and friends. She was 74.

She was born December 31, 1939 to parents Curtis & Bertha (Ginter) Smith in Mansfield. Bev attended Mansfield Senior High and was a lifetime area resident.

On January 18, 1958 she married Mel Alexander and together they spent 45 wonderful years until he passed away in 2003.

Bev worked as a real estate agent and was owner/broker of Woodland Realty in Mansfield. She later transitioned into a position with Allstate as an insurance agent. She was very much a people person and truly enjoyed her work.

In spare time, she took pleasure in reading, knitting, and travelling. But above all, Bev cherished spending time at her lake house and time with her friends and family. She will be remembered as a caring & giving person who went out of her way to help others.

Bev was a regular attendee of Berean Baptist Church.

She is survived by four children & their spouses: Jeff & Kathy Alexander of Mansfield, Joni & Rob Hassmann of Lexington, Jim & Krista Alexander of Lexington, and Monya Graham (fiancé Pete Zeides) of Ontario; a nephew and niece she raised as their own: Glen Massey of Mansfield, and Lisa & Andrew Printz of Ontario; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters Donna Parrella of Ontario and Shirley Day of Mansfield; dear friends Gloria Pirrgo, Doris Bechtel, and Harry Sowers; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special Chihuahua, Sparky.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings Adrian Smith, Melvin Smith, and Sandra Massey.

Her family will receive friends 12 noon – 3 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2014 in the sanctuary at Berean Baptist Church, 2145 Middle Bellville Rd in Mansfield, where a funeral service honoring her life will immediately follow at 3 p.m. and Pastor Bill Heaton will officiate.
