A native and lifelong resident of Americus, the Reverend Andrews was born March 27, 1943, the son of the late William Malcom Andrews Jr. and Edna Thornton Andrews. He was an only child. He was predeceased by his parents and his aunt, Rossie Andrews and uncle, Ben Andrews Sr.
He graduated from Americus High School and attended Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, GA. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgia Southwestern State University. He did further graduate work at the Candler School of Theology, Emory University.
He was a preacher of the Gospel, having served in several area churches. He served as minister of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Americus from 1973-1980 and at other times as interim minister, retiring in April, 2003.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Americus where he once served as a member of the Administrative Board and was also a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The League of The Good Samaritan, Magnolia Manor, 2001 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709 or to First United Methodist Church of Americus, 200 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709.
Funeral services will be held at Martha McDonald Chapel at Magnolia Manor, Monday December 1, 2014, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. John Brodess, Rev. Eddie Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, December 1, 2014, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Martha McDonald Chapel at Magnolia Manor.
