William F. Nemetz, 57, of 1609 S. 13th st., Manitowoc, died at 5 pm. Friday
at St. Theresa Hospital, Waukegan, wher he had been removed after suffering
a stroke Sunday, June 28, while attending the Eagles State convention at
Kenosha, where he was a delegate.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home,
Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry Letz will officiate and burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born March 25??, 1902, son of the late Edmund and Anna Vondrachek
Nemetz. He attended school here and June 12, 1926, married the former Florence
Vogt. Since 1914 he had been employed at the Mirro Aluminum Co. as a tool
and die maker.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society of the church, member of the
Catholic Order of Foresters, a 25-year club member at Mirro and a member
of Machinists Local 516.
An active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, he was a past president,
organizer and head of the lodge ritualistic team and as a grand worth conductor
went about the state for many years installing officers of state lodges. He was
a convention delegate for many years. In 1931 he became a second lieutenant
of the infantry branch of the Officers Reserve Corps following several years of
service as a first lieutenant in the National Guard. In 1941, upon the promotion
of Capt. Frank Khail to a higher position, Nemetz was made a captain and put
in charge of Company E of the Wisconsin State Guard.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Glen Brault and Mrs. John
Broderick, two brothers Edwin and Joseph of Manitowoc; three sisters, Mrs.
Patrick Gallagher of Milwaukee, Mrs. Lydia Tadych of Manitowoc and Mrs.
Ardel Remakel of Chicago, and five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home where Eagles will conduct memorial
services at 7 o’clock this Monday evening and the Rosary will be prayed by
the Holy Name Society at 8 o’clock.
