Aaron Miller

Aaron Miller, age 90, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Born in Wilmington, Delaware on October 9, 1924, Aaron was the son of the late Samuel Miller and Ray G. (Fisher) Miller. He attended the University of Delaware, but after his ROTC unit was activated, he bravely served his country in the US Army during WWII, where he was stationed with the 132nd Infantry Battalion from 1943 until 1947. After his discharge he pursued a Management degree from U of D and Temple University while working in his fathers market. He then went on to own and operate the former Millers Market for 50 years. Aaron was a member of the Wilmington Manor Fire Co, Joseph B Stahl American Legion, Wilmington Manor Lions Club, New Castle Moose and Elks Lodge, St Johns Lodge, the Masons, the Consistory and the Nur Temple. He was a board member of the Providence Charter School in Clayton and the Howard Weston Senior Center and served on the advisory council with the New Castle Co. Police in Middletown. After his retirement, Aaron served as President of the Grandview Farms Civic Assoc. He was an avid gardener known for sharing his tomatoes with all, but his real pride and joy was in his peonies. Aaron was a Phillies and Eagles fan who loved to recount the story of the championship game against the Packers at Franklin Field.

In addition to his parents, Aaron was preceded in death by his brothers, Irvin Miller and Seymour and sisters, Gloria Gross and Carmella Iorii. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Margaret (Short) Miller; stepson, John Reinholz, Jr. and wife, Beverly and their children, Sara and Laura; and stepdaughter, Cynthia Reinholz and her fiancé, Winston Roberts and her son, Bryan Powell.
