Life Legacy
In loving memory of Regina “Jean” Kotecki, of Peru, who passed away, Tuesday, December 09, 2014 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital when God held out his arms and said, “Come to my Heavenly kingdom”.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 12, 2014 at St. Valentine’s Church, Peru with Msgr. Brian Rejsek, pastor officiating. Private burial will be in St. Valentine’s Cemetery, Spring Valley. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.
Miss Kotecki was born in Peru to Joseph and Mary Barbara (Stachowiak) Kotecki. She attended St. Valentine’s School, Hall Township High School, Illinois Valley Community College and DePaul University.
She served four terms as president of the IVCH Auxiliary serving as scholarship chairperson along with many other auxiliary related programs. She was a member of St. Valentine’s Church in Peru and many local organizations including Holy Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Eagles Auxiliary and Beta Sigma Phi. She was president of St. Valentine’s Family circle for three years. She was twice named as Volunteer of the Year by the News Tribune. She retired from the local Social Security office after 27 years as a claims interviewer.
She is survived by her nieces, Barbara (Ken) Pyszka, Jeannine (William) Gaudet; nephews, Richard (Dawn) Kotecki, Joseph (Mary Jo) Kotecki, Jack (Toni) Landgraf and Jim (Lois) Landgraf and 22 great-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Hattie Landgraf; two brothers, Vincent and Edward Kotecki and three nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial to the IVCH sponsored nursing scholarship program.
