He married Hannah Butterworth on 13 December 1772, in Warren, Bristol County, Rhode Island. They were the parents of 8 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 23 February 1817, in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer County, New York at the age of 75, and was buried in Lansingburgh Village Cemetery, Lansingburgh, Rensselaer County, New York.
