Amburgey (1924-2000), William "Roy" Amburgey (1927-2007), Harry Lee Amburgey (1929-2010), Letha Amburgey-Gregory (Deceased), Dimple Bell Amburgey-Maynor (1932-2004), Mary Ellen Amburgey-Amburgey (Deceased), & Jimmy Amburgey (1938-2002).
Rev. Amburgey was a 1958 graduate of Oceana High School. He loved to preach and had been ordained through United Christian Church in Cleveland, Tenn. He served as pastor at many different churches including United Christian Church at Verdunville, Shady Grove Community Church at Ethel and Assistant pastor at Hedgeview Christian Baptist at Verdunville. For many years he ministered at Patty's Home Away From Home and Trinity Healthcare, Host of the TV Program "Because He Lives" for many years and attended the Cow Creek Christian Fellowship. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the DAV Local Chapter 56.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Sharon Richards-Amburgey; daughter, Sandra Lea Amburgey of Hudson, FL; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was formerly married to Carol Sue Stollings-Amburgey (B. 1943) on June 26, 1954 in Kopperston, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Logan County, WV, 1965, Page 496, Application Date: June 19, 1965).
Graveside services with Military Graveside Rites will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby with Rev. C. D. Wolford officiating.
