Letah Jane Gregory, 88, of Shady Spring, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, after a short illness.
Born March 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Jeff Amburgey (1892-1979) and Laura Griffith-Amburgey (1897-1976). Letah was a 1936 graduate of Oceana High School.
In addition to her parents, Letah was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Anthony Gregory (1915-Deceased) whom she married on September 25, 1937 in Oceana, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1937, Page 214, Application Date: September 21, 1937); her daughter, Doris Gregory-Clemons (Deceased); and her siblings, Posey Edward Amburgey (1920-1945), James L. Amburgey (1924-2000, Dimple Bell Amburgey-Maynor (1932-2004), and Jimmy Amburgey (1938-2002).
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Mary Ellen Gregory-Davis and husband, Charles Davis, of Mabscott, Annabell Gregory-Stanley and husband, Larry Stanley, of Conyers, GA, Martha Gregory-Todd of Conyers and Toni Gregory-McKinney of Emmett, ID; sons, Frank Gregory of Tucson, AZ, Anthony Gregory and wife, Brenda, of Columbus, OH, and Jeff Gregory and wife, Lisa, of Shady Spring; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Harry Lee "Big Paw" Amburgey (1929-2010) of Oceana, William "Roy" Amburgey (1927-2007) of Oceana and Charles E. "Ike" Amburgey (1940-2011) of Logan.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
