Etienne Anouilh, president of the Franco-Louisiannaise, died Tuesday night in the French hospital after having been stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage just before the dinner of the French World War veterans at the Patio Royal.
Mr. Anouilh was taken ill at 6 o'clock in the evening and died at 10:22 p. m. He is survived by his widow, who was the former Miss Alice Tujague, a son, Robert, and three daughters, Misses Olga, Marie and Hilda Anouilh.
For many years Mr. Anouilh conducted a restaurant at Decatur and Madison streets. He retired 11 years ago, but remained active in French societies. He received "Les Palmes Academique du Legion d'Honneur" from the Republic of France for helping to perpetuate the French language in New Orleans.
Besides being president of the Franco-Louisiannaise at the time of his death, he also was vice-president of the Fourteenth of July society. He was a member of L'Alliance, French society, Perseverance Lodge No. 4, F. and A. M., Cervantes Bodies Nos. 4 and 7, Grand Consistory of Louisiana, and of the French War veterans.
He was a native of La Cave, department of Ariege, France, where he was born 58 years and seven months ago. He had been a resident of New Orleans for the last 40 years.
Funeral services will be held at the Laudumiey funeral home, 1225 North Rampart street, Thursday at 3. p. m. and at the Perseverance lodge No. 4, F. and A. M., Dumaine street and St. Claude avenue, at 3:30 p. m. Burial will be in St. Louis cemetery No. 3, Esplanade avenue.
Mr. Anouilh's home was at 2017 St. Philip street."
