Isadore Lawn, 814 Willow Street, veteran local merchant and one of the oldest and most respected members of the Jewish community, died at 2:48 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was admitted at 11 a.m. He was 72. A native of Russia, he came to Lebanon as a youing man and immediately entered the retail clothing business at the Willow Street address, where he resided and conducted his business. At the time of his death he had operated the business for 55 years. He was for many years active in the community's civic life. While he did not seek the limelight, his aid and assistance quietly given in the backround, aided in the success of many community events. possessing a gentle and kindly disposition, he was also a man of charitable nature. These, among his many other fine qualities, endeared him to a legion of friends and acquaintances. A charter member in 1907 of Congregation Beth Israel, he was active in the organizations of the Synagogue. He was a charter member of the B'nai B'rith Lodge and a member of the local Elks Lodge. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club. Surviving is one daughter, Marthe L., wife of Paul Pleet, Rye, NY; two grandchildren, David Elihu Pleet, Mamaroneck,NY, and Gerald Norton Pleet, New Rochelle, NY; a great grandchild, Connie Marie Pleet, New Rochelle, and a brother. His wife, the former Mollie Goldberg, a native of Harrisburg, died in 1948. (Lebanon Daily News, Front page and page 24, June 10, 1954)
