Malcolm “Mac” Manchette, 79, of New Harmony, Indiana, born to Ralph and Rose (Appman) Manchette on July 29, 1935 in Poseyville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at New Harmonie Healthcare in New Harmony, Indiana.
Mac retired from General Electric in 2001 after 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, member of Johnson United Methodist Church, Arctic Masonic Lodge #394 in New Harmony; he served on the board of trustees of the Charles Ford Memorial Home and volunteered with the Ribeyre Gymnasium Restoration Project.
He enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hunting and especially morel hunting. He was a genius when it came to fixing things and was an all around handy man. He spent countless hours assisting his friends, family and community in all sorts of projects and repairs.
Mac is survived by his wife: Nancy (Bauer) Manchette of New Harmony, Indiana; two daughters: Jane Ellen Moye of Mt. Vernon, Indiana and Leslie (Allen) Bright of Evansville, Indiana; two grandchildren: Kelsey and Evan Moye of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; two brothers: Paul Manchette of Evansville, Indiana and W. Kenneth Manchette of Evansville, Indiana and his sister: Lurleen Krohn of St. Philips, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Frank, Harold and Ivan Ray Manchette.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at Johnson United Methodist Church in New Harmony, Indiana with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery in New Harmony, Indiana with Rev. John Adams officiating.
Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Werry Funeral Home in New Harmony, Indiana and 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
