Whitelaw Man Among 5 Fatalities
A Whitelaw area man was among at least five persons who lost their lives on Wisconsin highways during the weekend.
Lawrence Ohlsen, 58, of Rt. 1, Whitelaw, was killed Saturday evening when the car he was driving missed a curve 3 1/2 miles south of Wabeno on Highway 32 in Forest County. Authorities said he was thrown through the windshield.
His wife, Mabel, who was a passenger in the car, was treated for minor injuries.
Mr. Ohlsen was born Jan 6, 1909, at Manitowoc, son of the late Elmer Ohlsen and Mrs. Minnie Post Rulseth. He married the former Florence Mrotek in December, 1928, and she preceded him in death in June, 1951. He married the former Mrs. Mabel Dehne in March, 1963, and was employed as an awning erector for Dow Canvas Products, Inc., Manitowoc, for the past 18 years.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Mrs. John Rulseth, of Manitowoc; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (June) Endries, of Manitowoc and Miss Cheryl, at home; two sons, James and Thomas, of Rt. 1, Hilbert; four step-daughters, Mrs. Russell (Bernadine) Wheelox, of Manitowoc, Mrs. Duwayne (Shirley) Wolf, of Kaukauna, Mrs. Dwight (Karen) Hurley, of Connecticut and Miss Pattie Dehne, at home; two step-sons, Wayne and Leroy, at home; a sister, Mrs. Fred Heidman, of Muskegon, Mich.; a brother, John, of Manitowoc; and nine grandchildren. Two daughters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Very Rev. Clement P. Kern will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Man Suffers Hip Injury in Fall
Manitowoc- Lawrence Ohlsen, 51, of Manitowoc Rapids, suffered a hip injury when he fell to the floor with a ladder shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday at the County Armory Building, 930 N. 18th St., city police reported.
Ohlsen was taken to Holy Family Hospital in a police emergency vehicle. Officers said he also had a broken finger on the left hand and a cut over the left eye.
Ohlsen was atop the ladder which slipped to the floor from its resting place against the wall according to police.
