Hilda Holt Beaver, 95, widow of William Eugene Beaver, of Chapin, S.C, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Born May 5, 1916, in Pratt, she was a daughter of the late J.A.B. Holt and Verna Veazey Holt. She attended East Bank High School; received her A.B. from West Virginia Institute of Technology; and M.A. from Marshall University in Huntington. She retired from Chapin Complex, where she worked with the aging and Meals-On-Wheels. She was an active member of Mount Horeb Lutheran Church, and a member of the Mount Horeb Dorcas Circle and Loadholdt Bible Class. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to many. She had great love for her church and the performing arts. Her artwork is displayed throughout the community. She also enjoyed music, herb gardening and her grandchildren. Mrs. Beaver is survived by her son,3 daughters, 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Beaver was predeceased by her brothers, J.A.B. Holt of Charleston and Veasey Holt of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and sister, Patty Holt Nuggent of Pratt. The family of Hilda Beaver offers great appreciation for the kindness expressed to them during their bereavement. Memorials may be made to Mount Horeb Lutheran Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 8, Chapin, SC 29036. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Mount Horeb Lutheran Church, Chapin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A private burial will be held with family members in attendance at a later date. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
