Annie B. Mickelsen Rites Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Annie B. Mickelsen were held Tuesday, May 3rd at 2:00PM at the first Baptist Church in Dannebrog.

The Rev. Bryan Galloway officiated with the congregation singing "Amazing Grace" and Mrs. Ronald and Robert Swanson singing "Day by Day" and "How Great Thou Art". Mrs. Ronald Jackson was at the organ and Mrs. Paul Swanson at the piano.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dannebrog. Active casketbearers were Ronnie Knott, Paul Wagner, Randy Knott, Steven Wagner, Lyle "Buster" Leak, Daniel Mickelsen, Roger Leak and Richard Mickelsen. Honorary were Sharon Orcutt, Nita Sani, Barbara Ingold, Cindy Spiehs, Rebecca DeVore, Katherine Wagner and Kimberly Shippen.

Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul was in charge of arrangements.

Annie B. Mickelsen, daughter of Harry and Marie Stefensen Bennett was born October 9, 1902 at Terry , South Dakota . She departed from this life on April 30, 1988 at Grand Island , Nebraska at the age of 85 years.

When a child, Annie moved to Nebraska with her family. She received her education in rural school in the Dannebrog and Nysted area. Annie grew to womanhood on the family farm near Dannebrog.

On August 11, 1921, Annie married Ervin E. Knott at Kearney . Ervin passed away, shortly after their marriage.

On August 21, 1926, Annie married Clarence Mickelsen at Grand Island . The couple made their home on a farm near Dannebrog until 1947, when they moved into Dannebrog.

During World War II, Annie was employed at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant at Grand Island . She later was employed at the St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island for seventeen years.

Clarence passed away in May of 1969. Annie continued to make her home in Dannebrog, later moving to Grand Island .

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dannebrog and the Grand Generation Center of Grand Island.

She is survived by her four daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Arlene) Wagner, Mrs. Doris Butler and Mrs. Lillian Thompson all of Grand Island, and Ms. Alice Mickelsen of San Diego, California; three sons, Lyle Knott and Gaylord Mickelsen both of Grand Island, and Howard Mickelsen of Palmer; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Niemoth of Grand Island; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and a number of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ervin and Clarence; a son, Clarence Jr; brothers, Filmore, Albert and Edgar, and infant sister Ethel; a grandson Merlean Butler and one great-grandson, Zechariah Ingold. obit courtesy of Linda Berney (#47343179)
