Born in Marlboro County, SC, on September 2, 1940, he was a son of the late Thomas and Livie Hensley Blue. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a devout Christian, and a self-employed painter. . Fred came from a musical family and his passion was entertaining others through music and comedy. A self-taught musician, there was hardly any instrument that he couldn't play. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a True Southern Gentleman who was always willing to help a friend and whose happiness came from making others smile.
Mr. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Jean Blue of their home; sons, Freddie Blue (Jessica) of Florence, Leverne Martin (Linda) and William Blue both of Bennettsville; a daughter, Nichole Owens (Chris) of Latta; a brother, Edmund Blue (Grace) of Bennettsville; sisters, Madgalene Hyatt and Frances Quick both of Bennettsville; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Burroughs Cooper Kiser Funeral Home with burial following at the Blue Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 from 6-8 P.M.
Mr. Blue was preceded in death by his parents listed above; a son, Chris Blue; by brothers, Charles, Kenneth, James, Robert and Herbert Blue; by sisters, Ola Isgett, Sybil Peacock and Virginia Burr.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Blenheim Fire Department, PO Box 128, Blenheim, SC 29512.
